Do the lessons cost money?ROC Code's lessons are COMPLETELY FREE and virtual. We do not require payment of any kind.

What does a student need for lessons?For lessons, the only things that a student needs are a device that can use zoom and has access to the internet. Those are the only required thigns because all programming will tkae place on the internet so no apps or unique downloads are required.

How do I know which programming language is best for me?We understand that the number of programming languages available that ROC Code teaches can be overwhelming. So, for younger learners in grades K-5th, we would recommend signing up for Scratch. For middle school students, we would sugest either Python or Java. For high school students or later, we believe that the choice is up to you, but we always reocmmend starting with Python. Many languages have specific applications that can be applied in different fields. We recommend searching up what you wish to accomplsih with your lessons and find what language suits your needs. Why is computer programming useful to learn?Computer science is one of fastest growing fields, offering high paying jobs with a variety of different settings, companies, and countries. In addition, having this knowledge is useful in fields not related to computer science at all. Research in all of the sciences is increasingly using the power of computers to aid in scientific discovery. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that people know at least the basics of a programming language.
